Simon Quinn started debating as a primary school student in 1994. Since then, Simon has debated at all levels of school competition. He represented the Queensland Schools Debating Team for three years (1997-1999), captaining the Team to a National Schools Debating Championship in 1999. Simon represented the Australian Schools Debating Team for two years (1999 and 2000), and captained that team to a World Schools Debating Championship in 2000. Simon was awarded ‘Best Individual Speaker’ at both the 1999 and 2000 World Schools Championships.
Simon has adjudicated at various tournaments, including the 2001 World Schools Championship. He has coached numerous school teams, including the Queensland Schools Team in 2002, and was co-Chief Adjudicator (with Chris Erskine) of the 2010 World Schools Debating Championships, in Doha.
Simon was awarded the 2005 Rhodes Scholarship for Queensland, and is currently working as an Associate Professor at the University of Oxford Department of Economics.
